                The doctrine of grace is comprised of five "points" that are typically summed up as "Five-Point Calvinism". While John Calvin did indeed systematize these points in his writings, they are not all-inclusive of all of John Calvin's institutes*. A reformed Christian adheres to these five points, known as the Doctrine of Grace. These points build logically, one upon the other. If you will, please begin with the first and proceed in order to the last:

                1) The Doctrine of Total Depravity
                2) The Doctrine of Unconditional Election
                3) The Doctrine of Limited Atonement
                4) The Doctrine of Irresistible Grace
                5) The Doctrine of the the Perseverance of the Saints

                These five points are commonly known by the acronym of TULIP (note the underlined portions of the points, above).
                Although Calvin did develop these principles in his Institutes, his detractors actually developed the TULIP acronym as a means of summarizing his tenets
                .
